Contesto
Context
The increasing integration of renewable sources, electric vehicles, and energy communities is reshaping the demands on distribution networks. Hybrid AC/DC grids offer a technical solution to these requirements, enabling more efficient energy flow management and reducing power conversions. However, their widespread adoption is still limited, among other factors, by the lack of adequate supervision and control tools.
Project Approach
DiTRI develops a Digital Twin for a low-voltage hybrid AC/DC distribution network. The system relies on low-cost IoT sensors and integrates machine learning and deep learning algorithms for real-time monitoring, forecasting generation and load profiles, and optimizing the use of energy resources.
Field Validation
The Digital Twin is integrated and tested on a pilot plant already operational within the ASM Terni network, built as part of the European H2020 HYPERRIDE project. The objective is to scale the solution from TRL 5 to TRL 7, verifying its operation under real-world conditions.
Partnership and Outlook
The project involves Italian companies and research centers with complementary expertise. The results, validated on the pilot, will find application in the energy distribution market, contributing to the grid digitalization targets set by the Green Powered Future Mission of Mission Innovation.
